Without a doubt one of the most innovative and coolest artists living in Spain right now, Barcelona-based graphic designer and fine artist Nemo Jantzen is known for fresh and innovative pieces that are seriously in demand.

He is also our dear friend and we are completely honoured that he has agreed to show some of his latest pieces at Art Madrid.

Over the past 15 years, Jantzen has become a highly acclaimed international artist exhibited worldwide across the full spectrum of prestigious galleries, art fairs, museums and important public and private collections.

Jantzen was recently named among the top ten most in demand artists at international art fairs by ARTSY!

Known for his large scale portraits created using nails and one continuous thread, or resin domes containing hundreds of miniature photographs to make up one breathtaking image - we’ve been head over heels in love with his work since day one

Nemo decomposes, defragments, depixelates, in order to re-unite, recompose and repixel. His art is multidimensional, interactive and in permanent dialogue with the spectator.

Threads Series:

In the Threads series, Jantzen sketches his subjects using nothing but stainless steel nails and one continuous thread, to create detailed portraits on a wooden board. This photo-realistic and three dimensional technique changes depending on the light and perspective of the viewer. The result is a show-stopping sculptural piece that transforms every room!

Dome Series:

For his Dome Series, Nemo Jantzen combines photography, pointillism and pop art. First, the artist collects thousands of images, which he embeds in small handmade resin spheres. Jantzen then combines these tiny “domes” to create large mixed-media portraits.

The work is incredibly interactive, inviting the viewer to walk back and forth, changing their perspective. While his large-scale portraits are clearest when photographed, they are more abstract to the naked eye in real life and really have to be seen up close. They are utterly mesmerising!

Nemo’s work will be showing at our Concept Booth at Art Madrid 2021 next week. It’s the very first time Nemo will show his work at an art fair in Spain, and we are deeply honoured that he has agreed to do so with The Art Büro.
