Nemo Jantzen
The Hague, Netherlands, 1970
Recently mentioned by Artsy as one of the top 10 most sought after artists in the world at art fairs, Nemo Jantzen has built his global reputation around his hyperrealistic portraits, obtained through experimental techniques that challenge the law of visual perceptions, while playing with pop culture and mass media imagery.
His best-known series Nails & Thread are made by placing hundreds of stainless steel nails on a wooden board as his canvas, and using his photography as a road map. Nemo zig-zags thread from nail to nail, layer by layer until an image takes shape with a remarkable level of creativity and craftsmanship.

About The Artist:
Born in 1970 in The Hague, Nemo Jantzen graduated from the RTO Art Academy in Rotterdam and is now based between the Costa Brava, New York and Bali.
Nemo Jantzen’s interest in the way we experience and perceive images has led him to invent complex techniques that mix photography, pointillism, and pop art to create mixed media photo-compositions. Over the past 15 years, he has become a highly acclaimed international artist and has exhibited worldwide in galleries and art fairs.
He decomposes, defragments, depixelates, in order to reunite, recompose and repixel. His works are multidimensional, interactive and in permanent dialogue with the spectator.
"My latest body of work is all about perception, how each individual perceives things differently, how things can change and be looked at from a different angle or point of view, examining the effects and influence mass media has on our modern society, and how it determines what we think and changes our perception of the world around us." - Nemo Jantzen
