The Art Fairs and Festivals Happening This Autumn
Things are starting to feel quite Autumnal around here, which has us reflecting on this time last year and how all of the major art events happened online. There are some really fantastic art fairs and festivals to look forward to in Barcelona and Madrid over the next few weeks.
We couldn’t be more grateful to be back spending time among the artists, gallerists, curators and creatives who make the art world turn! We may even be hosting some events of our own soon..
Here are 5 excellent ART events coming up this Autumn in Spain..
SWAB Festival
When? 7-10th October
Where? Pabellón de Italia. Plaça de Carles Buïgas, 8, 08038 Barcelona
Swab is the contemporary art fair of Barcelona, an independent project that was born in 2006 as an experimental platform for emerging artistic proposals. The Swab Barcelona Contemporary Art Fair 2021 is dedicated to young and emerging talent presented by galleries from around the world, curated projects, and collector programs. Founded by architect and collector Joaquín Diez-Cascón, Swab is an event that brings together up to 80 galleries from the international scene and functions as a meeting point for the cultural sector on a global scale.
ESTAMPA Madrid
When? 21st - 24th October

The ESTAMPA contemporary art fair in Madrid celebrates the Spanish art market, with curated artwork from galleries across Spain. Held in the Spanish capital every autumn for the past 27 years, ESTAMPA is absolutely the place to be for art lovers, curators and collectors of contemporary art collections in Spain. Check out 3 female artists we discovered during the last ESTAMPA fair in April of this year
48h Open House Festival Barcelona
When? 24th-25th October
Where? Across the city
Open House Festival Barcelona is part of the Global Open House series of events around the world. The event aims to encourage locals to appreciate the value of good architecture and urbanism, opening over 175 great buildings of different styles, forms and sizes to the public.
The 48h Open House Barcelona program is set within the six Barcelona boroughs (Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Vilassar de Dalt, Sant Joan Despí, Badalona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat). This year’s theme is “Mediterranean Architecture”. Some of the architectural wonders taking part include the Mies Van der Rohe Foundation.
LOOP

LOOP is is a platform dedicated to the study and promotion of the moving image, including a festival, academic programme of talks, workshops and meetings, and a fair, set in the iconic Gaudí building La Pedera-Casa Milà. Since 2003, LOOP Fair has been the first in its field exclusively dedicated to the discovery, promotion and acquisition of contemporary video art works.
While teaming up with an international community of artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and institution directors to develop projects which aim at exploring the capacities of video and film in today’s contemporary art discourses.
Mira Digital Art Festival
When? 11-13th November
Where? Fabra I Coats (Opening Night at IDEAL
Held annually in Barcelona since 2011, Mira Digital Art Festival is based on exhibition, dissemination and education. Focused on the intersection between arts and digital culture, the festival features a programme comprised of audiovisual shows, digital art installations, screenings, conferences and workshops.
MIRA promotes artistic collaborations and boosts the creation of new projects, supporting the relationships between collectives, associations and artists from the fields of digital arts and technology.
